Our latest data from 2,090 adults across the UK shows:
- Three in four continue (75%) to support the quarantine requirement for travellers entering the UK which will come into force on Monday. But this has fallen from 92% when we first asked about the policy in our survey on 29th/30th April.
- 43% feel Boris Johnson is showing leadership, 52% feel that he is not. Findings are largely unchanged from last week.
- Disapproval in Govt handling of the crisis continues to grow – 56% (up from 52%). Data suggests significant differences between urban and rural dwellers. Urban population approval sits at 36%, while rural population is 44%.
- This week has seen a change in lockdown rules. 71% still agree that “people in their neighbourhood are for the most part respecting the new rules”. However, when we asked the same question 15/16 April, 85% agreed with the statement. One in three (32%) of 18-24 year olds now disagree with the statement (which has doubled from 15% the last time we asked the question)
- 40% of households claim to have experienced a decrease in income since COVID-19 started in the UK. This increases to a majority among those aged 18-34 years. London is significantly higher than any other region (53%). Those workers who are self employed (74%) or in the private sector (59%) are significantly more likely to have felt the pinch than those in the public sector (39%).
- What about 2021? Just one in five (20%) expect that life will return to normal by the end of this year, with two in three (68%) arguing it will not.
Fieldwork was carried out online amongst a nationally representative sample of 2,090 adults aged 18+ living in the UK between 3rd – 4th June.
